VERY SPECIAL PINK SATURDAY (Nellie)

Do you remember when Cabbage Patch Dolls came out?? I
have a wonderful story to share about mine.My first husband
drove 90+ miles from Meridian to Hattiesburg, to the old Gibsons
Discount to get this one for me. The greatest thing about this is
that we had not been married very long. I must have been at least
twenty four.My thought this would be something to hand down to
my daughter if and when I had one. But as you know I only have
two Sons (Chad and Ryan). Two grandsons(Connor and Cooper)
I am going to continue to wait for a granddaughter
to pass her down to!! Gibsons Was SOLD OUT in Meridian,
DANNY was off the next day. I hated to ask him to go,
I made sure he was on the road early. I just knew to be able to
get one he had to be there close to opening. When he arrived,
walked in the(store) Gibsons all he could here were women.
That made it much easier for him to know where they were
located in the store. I asked for her to be wearing
Pink and have dark hair I wanted her to look like me my hair
was dark at the time but it has been blonde
for the last 30 something years. He knew more about me
than I did with getting blonde hair.
Sharing Nellie for Pink Saturday.
She has been with me since 1984..

Hi Vikki,
What a fun story! Ronnie stood in line early one morning at Gaylords to get one for Kelli...she had red hair and I can't remember her name!

I don't think we still have her, but I do have some pics! I'll send you one or maybe do a post.

Happy Pink Saturday!

Loved hearing those towns...I am a Californian, but I have family in Mississippi, I lived in Vicksburg for years, 2 of my kids were born there. And, my lovely daughter in law is from Yazoo City!!

Small world?

yes in deed remember them well. I didnt have the money to boy my twin daughters one back then and a wonderful aunt braved the crowds to get them each one for me. It was so sweet of her.

Stop by and check out our contest going on when you get a chance.

Aww! How cool to still have her all these years and that she was bought by your husband for you.

I had one (a boy) that was bought for me in '85 by my then-fiance at Christmastime. We broke up, and I do not know what became of that doll. I probably "cleaned house" while throwing everything else away from that relationship!

What a wonderful memory. I have a son and grandson, too, but I still hold on to my dolls.

Happy Pink Saturday, Vikki.
